Mini Abdominoplasty

MINI ABDOMINOPLASTY OPTIONS

Some patients have a small amount of excess skin but noticeable muscle divarication that requires excision and repair but insufficient for a full abdominoplasty. In cases like these, the mini-abdominoplasty is a much better option. Unlike full-abdominoplasty, the lower abdominal scar will be shorter and there will be no scar around the umbilicus. However, there may be some residual excess skin above the umbilical. The principle of the surgery is similar to a full abdominoplasty and the full recovery time is still around the 6 weeks period. Mr. Ho-Asjoe can clarify if you are a suitable candidate for this type of surgery during the consultation.

AFTERCARE AND RECOVERY

Patients are allowed gentle mobilization in the first 4 weeks after the mini-abdominoplasty. They should also avoid strenuous activities. Patients are encouraged to shower as well as wear the supportive abdominal binder. Full recovery is usually expected around the 6 weeks period. Some patients may find standing fully erected uncomfortable but this sensation will gradually ease off. This procedure has many of the same aftercare needs as the full abdominoplasty. This procedure is overall incredibly similar. If you think this could be a good option for you, speak to your surgeon.
