Breast Uplift (Mastopexy)

What Is Breast Uplift Surgery (Mastopexy)?

Over time, factors like pregnancy, ageing, weight changes, and gravity can cause the breasts to lose firmness and begin to sag. Breast uplift surgery, also known as mastopexy, is designed to lift and reshape the breasts by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple for a more youthful, natural look.

Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola (the darker skin around the nipple) for a more balanced appearance.
If desired, a breast augmentation using implants can be performed at the same time to restore or increase volume—particularly if there's a loss of tissue or fullness in the upper breast.

What to expect during a Mastopexy (Breast Uplift Surgery)

  • The procedure typically takes 1.5 to 3 hours
  • Usually involves an overnight stay in hospital
  • Loose skin is removed, and the nipple is repositioned higher on the breast
  • Implants can be added if increased volume is desired
  • For patients with very poor tissue quality, additional techniques may be recommended to help maintain the results longer. These options will be fully discussed during your personal consultation with Mr Mark Ho-Asjoe.

Breast uplift aftercare

Following your breast uplift (mastopexy), you’ll be advised to wear a soft support bra after the first few days to aid healing and maintain shape.
It's common to experience temporary numbness around the nipples. Sensation typically returns within six weeks, though in some cases it may take longer—up to a year or more. In rare instances, it may be permanent.

To support a smooth breast uplift recovery:

  • Avoid upper body exercise for 6 weeks
  • Most patients can return to work within 1 to 2 weeks, as long as the role doesn’t involve heavy lifting
  • Prioritise rest and follow all post-op care instructions provided

Mr Ho-Asjoe and his team will guide you throughout your recovery to ensure you’re healing well and feeling supported at every step.
