What Does It Involve?
Some patients have a small amount of excess skin but noticeable muscle divarication that requires excision and repair but insufficient for a full abdominoplasty. Unlike full-abdominoplasty, the lower abdominal scar will be shorter and there will be no scar around the umbilicus. However, there may be some residual excess skin above the umbilical. The principle of the surgery is similar to a full abdominoplasty and the full recovery time is still around the 6 weeks period. Mr. Ho-Asjoe can clarify if you are a suitable candidate for this type of surgery during the consultation.
Patients are allowed gentle mobilization in the first 4 weeks and should avoid strenuous activities. Patients are encouraged to shower and to wear the supportive abdominal binder. Full recovery is usually expected around the 6 weeks period. Some patients may find standing fully erected uncomfortable but this sensation will gradually ease off.
